Miki Yoshida, Japan

Miki has made her dream come true to work for the United Nations (UN) upon graduating as the 7th batch of APS. The experiences and exchanges made with the students from all around the world during her time as an APS scholar has contributed vastly to her work at the UN.

Yusuke Miyake, Japan

October 29, 2019

Born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan in 1989. After graduating from Osaka University, worked at a private trading company and an independent administrative corporation before joining APS (11th batch) in 2017. In 2018, he received a master's degree from the University for Peace (International Peace Studies) and a master's degree from Ateneo de Manila University (Global Politics). Upon graduating, he has been working as an Expert at the Embassy of Japan in Israel since March 2019.

Kazumasa Okao, Japan

Born in Hyogo, 1984. After graduating from Ibaraki University, worked at a foreign-affiliated pharmaceutical company and joined the JICA’s Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers before joining APS as the member of the 8th batch in 2014. In 2015, received a Master's degree from the United Nations University for Peace in Environment, Development and Peace – Environmental Security and Governance

Aya Tearasawa , Japan

Born in Okinawa prefecture, in 1980. In 2005, while living in the U.S., she became interested in poverty and equality, which lead to her interest in the peacebuilding field. In 2011, joined the APS Programme as the sixth batch and in 2012, obtained a Master’s in International Law and Human Rights from the United Nations University for Peace.

Phat Nguyen, Vietnam

Phat was born and raised in Vietnam and as a part of the post-war Vietnamese generation, his call towards building peace was clear from an early age. He graduated from the Peace Education Programme in 2017, and today, two years after, he reflects on how UPEACE reshaped his life but above all, changed his responsibility to his community.
